Break the Silence Day 2017

Break the Silence Day (August 16, 2017) creates an invitation for survivors of sexual assault, sexual abuse, and rape to speak their names and share their stories in solidarity with others choosing to do the same.

Survivors are invited to break the silence however, if ever, they want to. A few options we can provide:

- Survivors can break the silence via our photography project, which will be posted on August 16 (more info at: https://www.breakthesilence.org/photoproject/)

- Survivors can break the silence at our truth-telling event in Minneapolis.

- Survivors can choose to post on social media, using #BreaktheSilenceDay

As always, there is no right way to heal, and breaking the silence won't end our suffering. Rather, we break the silence in spite of the rape culture we live in to challenge our society to see the horrific reality of sexual violence that surrounds us and to be allies, to support fellow survivors in their healing, and to hold perpetrators accountable.
